A Japanese habit

A Japanese habit

There’s one thing that immediately strikes attention: the beautiful herringbone parquet.

Charlotte and Frederic admit they’ve been very lucky: the previous renters were Japanese, and always took their shoes off upon entering the apartment. That’s how the parquet has preserved its beauty, and it inspired Charlotte and Frederic to do the same. When renovating their home, the couple tried to restore the distinctive manor features – like cornices, moldings and paneling – to its original value, but also added a great amount of new materials as Polish pine and brass to create a modern look and feel.
